What are the SDGs?
In 2015, the Sustainable Development Goals were approved at the UN to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives of people all over the world.
193 countries are part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which sets out a plan of 17 goals to be achieved by 2030.
These 17 goals are integrated. What does this mean? Actions in one area will affect others.
Everyone’s help is needed to achieve the goals and make the world a better place.

What can I do?
Here are some examples of small gestures we can do in our everyday lives:
- Save energy by switching off lights that you are not using.
- Walk, cycle or use public transport instead of taking the car.
- If you see negative behaviour towards another person, report it.
- Take short showers to save water.
- Recycle plastic, paper, glass and aluminium.
- Buy local, organic and Fairtrade products.
- Use a reusable water bottle.
- Buy fruit and vegetables that are not so pretty, so they are not thrown away because of the way they look.
- Take your own bag when you go shopping.
- Donate what you don’t use.
- Buy second-hand products and sell or give away what you don’t need.
- Try to generate less waste.
- Share with your friends what you know about the SDGs.
- Reduce your plastic consumption.
