GENDER EQUALITY

SDGs 05

A fundamental human right to build a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
We have made progress on many things: more girls in school, fewer girls forced into marriage, more women in leadership positions and more laws for equality.
However, 1 in 3 women say they have experienced sexual violence. Discriminatory laws still exist and 49 countries do not have laws to protect against gender-based violence.

ACTIONS FOR 2030

  • End discrimination and violence against women and girls.
  • Recognise and value unpaid domestic work and the sharing of responsibilities in the home.
  • Create laws for gender equality.
  • Eliminate practices such as child marriage.
  • Improve equal opportunities for women’s leadership in political, economic and public life.
